Rosamaria Montibeller put together an outstanding performance for Brazil at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 as she helped her country to a silver medal finish.

With many big names in the Brazilian roster, Rosamaria impressed and held her own while competing against the best teams in the world.

The Brazilian opposite tallied 32 attacks, 13 blocks and three aces, a considerable contribution to Brazil’s undefeated run ahead of the gold medal match.

And perhaps the defining match for her was against ROC. As ROC grabbed the opening set victory, Rosamaria pulled out all the stops to get her team out of a tight situation in the second set and her efforts paid off as Brazil took the next two to complete their victory.

Rosamaria’s heroics and good all-around game in the match against the European side secured the team’s return to the final four after missing the semifinals in the previous edition of the Olympics in Rio. She finished with eight attacks, six stuff blocks and two aces in Brazil’s four-set victory.

“I always keep in mind what our coach Ze Roberto told us," said Rosamaria. "If we don’t take risks in the game, then we don’t deserve to win.”

Playing a game without taking risks is not a real game. I will never forgive myself if I lose a game without trying and believing in myself. Even if I make mistakes, it’s better that I have the courage to always try. I like that kind of feeling. Rosamaria Montibeller

Rosamaria and her teammates very clearly enjoyed every moment of their Olympic campaign, and consistently celebrated every point on court.

So what do they actually say to each other in the huddle?

We scream all the time and tell each other that we can do it and that we are a team. We look each other in the eyes and feel each other’s vibe. We tell each other that we deserve it, that we are good, and that we are beautiful. That helps us to do our best in the game.
