History of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League
The Volleyball Nations League was established in 2018 as a premier international competition that features the best women’s national volleyball teams from around the globe. It was introduced by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) as a premier annual international competition, replacing the former World Grand Prix. The VNL was created to provide a more competitive and exciting format, bringing together the top women's national volleyball teams to compete in a pool phase format, followed by final rounds to determine the champion.
