After their Supercup victory, Bielsko-Biała had a strong start in the Tauron Liga, beating Sokół & Hagric Mogilno in straight sets on the road. After their second-leg match against UNI Opole was postponed, they returned to the court last Saturday and featured in a five-set battle with KS DevelopRes Rzeszów, falling at the end.
“I hope that this match and defeat will give us more motivation to work,” Estonian opposite Kertu Laak said. “It’s a good thing when you leave the court after losing such a tight match with the feeling that we could have played much better. We just need to find a way to translate this into our performance. It’s still the beginning of the season and I’m convinced we can play much better.”
With four points (one win, one loss) and one match in hand, Bielsko-Biała currently appear in sixth place in the Tauron Liga standings.
Defending champions Chemik had an immediate response to their Supercup defeat, beating Energa MKS Kalisz in their Tauron Liga debut, but dropped after that, falling to MOYA Radomka Radom and ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec in the last two weeks.
“We’re gaining experience and I hope that in similar situations in the future, we manage to finish the job,” head coach Dawid Michor reflected after the loss to Mielec. “We're frustrated, but we'll channel that frustration into motivation to work harder so that we can win a similar match in the future.”
