Competing in the Lega Volley Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà for the first time in the 2024-2025 season, Cda Volley Talmassons Fvg made history last week and want to continue showing progress in the fourth leg of the season, which will have seven matches taking place in Italy from Saturday to Sunday.

Fresh from their first victory in the Italian elite, the team from Northern Italy will be back home in Latisana to face Megabox Ondulati Savio Vallefoglia on Sunday, at 17:00 local time (15:00 GMT), when they will try to take another step forward in the Italian League.

After 12 seasons in the Italian lower divisions, Talmassons earned their spot in the Lega Femminile last year with their second-place finish in the Serie A2. Their history in the first division didn’t start on the right foot, with defeats to Smi Roma Volley and giants Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano.

Things started to change last week, however, when Talmassons went on the road and topped then-undefeated Bergamo 3-1, collecting their first three points and moving up to tenth place in the standings.

Against Vallefoglia, they want to continue to trend in the right direction and start getting some separation from the bottom of the standings.

“We know them very well as we faced them during the preseason,” Greek outside hitter Ólga Strántzali said. “They are very strong offensively, but we’ll be ready. I hope our fans come to support us and that we can give them another victory. Each of us knows our roles well and we’ll do our best to achieve our goal, which is to stay in the first division.”

Vallefoglia’s start of the season was a busy one as they were involved in five-setters in their first two matches, falling to Il Bisonte Firenze and beating Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia. Last weekend, they showed more stability in sweeping Eurotek Uyba Busto Arsizio.

With six points, they are in sixth place in the standings and want to make it to the playoffs, repeating what they did last season.

“We worked well during the week, which is usual when you have a good win,” assistant coach Domenico Petruzzelli explained. “It will be a difficult match, because it’s their first season in the Lega Femminile, but they have experienced players. It’s very important that we can continue our positive trend.”

Novara on the court on Saturday

Igor Gorgonzola Novara, who featured in the first Derby of the season last week, when they upset Numia Vero Volley Milano, will be on the court on Saturday, when they host Roma at 18:30 local time (16:30 GMT). On the same day, Firenze play at home against Wash4green Pinerolo at 18:00 local time (16:00 GMT) while Perugia meet Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 at 20:30 local time (18:30 GMT).
