On Thursday, they left a strong impression with a sweep over Portugal’s FC Porto in their CEV Champions League debut and hope to carry the momentum into the Lega Femminile this weekend.
“We won’t have much time to leave the Champions League debut behind us,” Lavarini commented. “Busto will be a big challenge for us. They’ve been playing very well and have been getting incredible results, so they’re obviously very confident right now. We’ll try to get to the match as prepared as we can.”
After dropping their first three matches of the season, Busto have been able to turn things around in the last weeks, getting three wins in a row and moving up to eighth place in the standings with eight points (three wins, three losses).
"We know this is going to be a challenging match, against one of the top teams in the country," setter Jennifer Boldini said. "The last victories helped us understand what we can do, but we know there's still a lot of work to be done. We want to make the most of this positive moment to keep growing and will give everything to get another good result."
With 46 points scored across the three matches, Swiss outside hitter Laura Künzler has been one of Busto’s main producers in their impressive run.
