Set to take place this weekend, with one match on Saturday and six on Sunday, the eighth leg of the 2024-2025 Lega Volley Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà regular season won’t have much of an impact in the four best-ranked teams in the standings, but below them, a lot could look different by the end of the day on Sunday.

Occupying the spots from fifth to ninth in the table, Megabox Ondulati Savio Vallefoglia, Bergamo, Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76, Wash4Green Pinerolo and Eurotek Uyba Busto Arsizio are all susceptible to move up or down, depending on the results they secure this weekend.

The movement can start in the opening match of the weekend, between Bergamo and Chieri, which is scheduled for Saturday, at 18:00 local time (17:00 GMT). With Bergamo ranked sixth, with 12 points (four wins, three losses), and Cheri coming right next in seventh place, with 11 points (five wins, three losses), the teams can end the weekend anywhere from fifth to ninth, depending on how the matches play out.

Ranked fifth with 12 points (four wins, three losses), Vallefoglia will also duel with a direct opponent this weekend, hosting fourth-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci on Saturday, at 16:00 local time (15:00 GMT). They can’t move up, as even with a 3-0 win that would get them to the same 15 points as their opponents, they would still be behind in the set ratio, but getting all three points would very likely keep them where they are, ready to make a move into the top four in the next leg.

Lega Volley Femmnilie – Match Schedule & Results

Currently occupying the last spot inside the qualification zone for the playoffs, eighth-placed Pinerolo have ten points (three wins, four losses), and could end the weekend as high as fifth. In order to do that, however, they would need to beat the undefeated league leaders Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano, on Sunday, at 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT).

“This is a match we know exactly what to expect,” Pinerolo’s head coach Michele Marchiaro summarized. “They will come out aggressively and try to secure the win as quickly as possible. We need to be ready to play under pressure and to take advantage of every opportunity we have.”

Ranked ninth with nine points (three wins, four losses), Busto are in a similar position where a win could make them jump a few spots, but it might be hard to get, as they go against third-placed Igor Gorgonzola Novara on Sunday, also at 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT).

“This is going to be another difficult match for us, but the team is playing well and with confidence,” Busto’s head coach Enrico Barbolini said. “Novara made some changes this season, but are playing very well, and because of that, we’ll need to be even more alert than before. The keys for us will be focusing on our side of the court and doing the things we need to do well.”

The battle at the bottom

Currently in tenth place with seven points (two wins, four losses), Il Bisonte Firenze have an opportunity to gain a few spots this week and join the Italian League’s intermediary group – they host SMI Roma Volley on Sunday, at 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT). In 13th place with three points (one win, six losses), the team from the Italian capital desperately needs a win to move away from the relegation zone and getting all three points against Firenze could get them up two spots.

Also looking to leave the bottom of the standings behind, 14th-placed Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia will have another opportunity to secure their first victory in the season – they have two points, with eight losses. Their opponents will be 11th-placed Honda Olivero Cuneo, who have four points (one win, five losses), on Sunday, at 18:30 local time (17:30 GMT).

Ranked 12th with the same four points (one win, six losses), Cda Volley Talmassons Fvg will probably have to work hard to earn points as they will face second-placed Numia Vero Volley Milano, at 18:00 local time (17:00 GMT).
