Undefeated in Pool A, Warta Zawiercie were dominant in their first pool play campaign in Club World Championship history, accumulating eight points with three victories. Their sweep over Praia, who ended with three points, also determined the qualification of Brazil's Vôlei Renata Campinas, who have four points, regardless of the outcome of their final pool play match, against Qatar's Al-Rayyan Sports Club on Thursday, at 20:30 local time (23:30 UTC).
2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship: schedule and results
After a day off on Friday, they will try to take Polish volleyball back to the podium at the Club World Championship for the first time in 13 years. One of the strongest volleyball nations in the world, Poland made four consecutive podium appearances between 2009 and 2012, when PGE Skra Belchatow took bronze.
American outside hitter Aaron Russell, a Club World Championship winner with Italian side Itas Trentino in 2018, emerged as Warta Zawiercie's top scorer against Praia, leading the team with 16 points (15 kills, one ace). Fellow outside hitter Bartosz Kwolek added 12 (ten kills, two aces), while middle blocker Mateusz Bieniek and opposite Bartlomiej Boladz contributed nine each.
Praia didn't have a single player getting to double digits in scoring in the last match of their second participation in the event - outside hitter Paulo Vinicios Silva got close to it, with nine points (seven kills, two aces), while middle blocker Wennder Lopes added seven.
