With their second victory in three matches in Belém, Osaka ended pool play in second place in Pool B, with seven points. They trailed Italian side Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia, who went undefeated, with eight points - the two teams now wait for the conclusion of Pool A, later on Thursday, to know their semifinal opponents. Brazil's Sada Cruzeiro finished third with three points, while Swehly ended their first appearance on the Club World Championship with no points earned.
With their positioning in the semifinal bracket determined before the start of the match, Osaka rested their starters, sending an alternative lineup to the court to face the Libyans. A Paris Olympian, 22-year-old outside hitter Masato Kai made the most of the opportunity, and led the Asians with 19 points (15 kills, two blocks, two aces). Fellow outside hitter Kenyu Nakamoto and middle blocker Keitaro Nishikawa also had solid shifts, with nine and eight points, respectively.
Swehly ended the first participation of a Libyan team at the Club World Championship having outside hitter Mohamed Aween, who scored ten points (all in kills), and middle blocker Nabil El Naely, who added eight (six kills, two blocks), as their most productive players.
