The strong result, however, didn't change Al-Rayyan's fate in the tournament, as they ended pool play in fourth place with three points, behind Poland's Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, who got eight, Campinas, who accumulated four, and Brazil's Praia Clube, who got three, but had a better set ratio.
Ugandan opposite Daudi Okello, who only saw the court for Al-Rayyan in Thursday's match, played a major role in the team's only victory in Brazil, leading the Qataris with 17 points (15 kills, two blocks). Hungarian outside hitter Roland Gergye contributed ten, with eight kills and two aces.
Campinas, who already entered the court with their spot in the semifinals guaranteed, had Brazilian national team outside hitter Adriano Xavier as their main standout with 12 points, all in kills. Opposite Newton 'Acerola' Fernandes added nine, all also obtained on the offense.

After a day off on Friday, the Club World Championship continues on Saturday, with the semifinals. Warta Zawiercie and Japan's Osaka Bluteon play first, at 15:00 local time (18:00 UTC), with Campinas and Italy's Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia following at 18:30 (21:30 UTC).
