The FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship 2019 will take place for the second consecutive year in Shaoxing, China.

Host city: Shaoxing

Shaoxing is a prefecture-level city on the southern shore of Hangzhou Bay in eastern Zhejiang province, China. It was formerly known as Kuaiji and Shanyin. Located on the south bank of the Qiantang River estuary, it borders Ningbo to the east, Taizhou to the southeast, Jinhua to the southwest, and Hangzhou to the west. 

 

It is noted for Shaoxing wine, meigan cai, and stinky tofu, and was recently featured on A Bite of China. Its local variety of Chinese opera sung in the local dialect. 

 

In 2010, Shaoxing celebrated the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of the city.

In 2019, the city welcomed for the first time the FIVB Women's Club World championship, showcasing the best women's volleyball clubs in the world. VakifBank Istanbul retained their FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship title, following triumph over Minas Tenis Clube, while Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul claimed the bronze medal with their victory against Brazil's Praia Clube.
