Verona and Gas Sales are about to engage in an exciting quarterfinal battle
“Being the favorites doesn't count for much, because we have to play on the court. In my experience, in fact, it counts for nothing! We're playing at home on Saturday, so I'm very happy to start here at the Pala Barton Energy with all the fans. I hope the arena is full of people! We are playing against a team with very, very experienced players, who know how to approach these matches.” Simone Giannelli, setter and captain of Sir Susa Vim Perugia
“We have reached the most anticipated moment. We have been working all season to be ready for the playoffs. Perugia is a tough opponent, but in the last matches we have found good continuity and we are charged. Of course, we will give everything to achieve the feat. We will have to push ourselves to the limit and maintain the best level of play for as long as possible.” Paul Buchegger, opposite of Valsa Group Modena
“The new phase will require a very different approach compared to the previous one. We will need to put the maximum level of attention on the court to aspire to express ourselves consistently at our highest levels; we will be able to count on the push of our fans in three of the five potential games of the series and this definitely represents a plus for us. On the other side of the net we will find a team like Cisterna that will certainly put up a battle.” Fabio Soli, head coach of Itas Trentino Trento
“Facing Itas Trentino is always a particularly demanding challenge, especially in a difficult context like their arena. Itas played an excellent regular season, deserving first place in the standings. However, the playoffs erase every previous result, and our goal is to start again with determination, trying to express our maximum potential against them. It will be essential to approach the match with the right attitude right from the first exchanges, putting in the maximum effort to obtain the best possible result.” Theo Faure, opposite of Cisterna Volley
“We are satisfied with our position in the regular season and we are physically and mentally ready. I remember well the defeat suffered in Milan at the beginning of the championship and I know that we will face a team that is tough to beat, but the victories achieved at home in the return game and in the Italy Cup give me confidence. Above all, we feel strong on our court and ready to play with anyone.” Adis Lagumdzija, opposite of Cucine Lube Civitanova
“I hope we arrive with full psychophysical energy to withstand the pressure from Lube, and have the ability to respond blow for blow. Technically, I believe that the key could be the quality of the two teams in serving. And I expect a lot from our middle blockers. I am convinced that these four arrows in our bow could be fundamental.” Fabio Lini, general director of Allianz Milan
“It's obvious that all the experience is on their side and their quality is very high. In this series, we don't start as favorites, despite the victories we've already achieved against them. But in the playoffs, the story is different, because these are matches where you play a lot with your head and your emotions, where whoever knows how to contain them best will have an advantage.” Radostin Stoytchev, head coach of Rana Verona
“We are ready to play with Verona who remains our bete noire, having seen us off on all fronts. We can't wait to face the most important part of the championship.” Leonardo Scanferla, libero of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza
