Vietnam and hosts Indonesia delivered spirited performances to bring Southeast Asian flair to the second day of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U21 World Championship on Friday, while 2023 medalists China, Italy and Brazil each extended their unbeaten starts at the JAWA POS Arena, Gelora Pancasila and Samator Healthporia Volleyball Hall.

Vietnam earned their second win of the tournament with a 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23) triumph over Serbia. Captain Dang Thi Hong led the charge with 15 points, while Le Thuy Linh and Ngo Thi Bich Hue added 13 and 12. The Vietnamese attack outpaced the Europeans with 52 kills and capitalized on 99 digs to turn defense into offense. Anja Mihajlovic scored 14 for Serbia.
Indonesia kept the home crowd on their feet with a 3-1 (28-26, 25-18, 18-25, 25-21) win over Canada. After edging a tight opening set, the hosts built momentum in the second before the visitors pulled one back in the third. Digging proved decisive for Indonesia, who matched Vietnam’s 99 digs to fuel counterattacks. Pascalina Mahuze and Junaida Santi scored 18 and 17, respectively, while Canada’s Logan King posted a match-high 22.
Defending champions China eased past Korea 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-17) in Pool B to remain unbeaten. In Pool C, 2023 silver medalists Italy swept their opponents 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-16) for their second win, while Poland joined them at 2-0 after a 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-21) victory over Türkiye. Brazil, the 2023 bronze medalists, claimed the top spot in Pool D with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-21) win over Chile.
In other Pool A action, Argentina stayed perfect by defeating Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-21). Maria Bernardita Aguilar Toranz scored 19 points, with Bianca Garibaldi and Martina Bednarek adding 11 each, and Garibaldi contributing four blocks.
The United States topped Pool B after a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-11) victory over the Dominican Republic, while Croatia recorded their first win by blanking Mexico 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-16).
Czechia entered the win column in Pool C with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-12) result over their opponents.
Japan stayed unbeaten in Pool D after a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-17) win over Thailand, with four players scoring in double figures. Bulgaria also picked up their first victory, beating Tunisia 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-20).
