Two-time Olympic champions take on 2023 VNL winners in Pool B on September 22

Two-time Olympic champions and Tokyo 2020 silver medalists Brazil and 2023 Volleyball Nations League titlists Türkiye will highlight September 22’s fixtures at the women’s Volleyball Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Tokyo.
These two top teams will have an intense duel at 16:00 local time (07:00 UTC) in Pool B, hoping to clinch one of the two Paris 2024 spots available in their group.
Brazil have a rich Olympic women’s volleyball history. In their last eight participations, they have made it to the quarterfinals and finished on the podium on five occasions - winning two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Tokyo 2020 silver medalists Gabi Guimaraes and Rosamaria Montibeller will lead their younger hitters on offense, while Ana Carolina da Silva and Thaisa Menezes are the main forces on defense for the Brazilian squad.
The latest encounter between Brazil and Türkiye was on the third week of the 2023 VNL in Bangkok, where the latter triumphed in straight sets. Both squads advanced to the finals, but Türkiye’s brilliant performance propelled their campaign to top podium success for the first time.
Türkiye, led by their enigmatic captain Eda Erdem, their powerhouse hitters Melissa Vargas and Ebrar Karakurt and the glamorous defense-oriented middle Zehra Gunes, will spark intense competition against their Olympic qualification rivals.
