The men’s national volleyball team of Türkiye will continue under the guidance of a new head coach. Umut Cakir, who was the team’s assistant coach until now, has been announced by the Turkish Volleyball Federation as the next man on the job.
The 46-year-old Turkish specialist takes over the helm of his country’s men’s national volleyball team from Frenchman Cedric Enard, who was appointed in February and guided Türkiye through their historic Volleyball Nations League debut.
Cakir is a former volleyball athlete, playing as a setter. He is currently also the head coach of the Turkish men’s club team of Galatasaray HDI Istanbul and will combine the two jobs going forward.
