Herbots stars in Belgium’s 2025 roster

Outside hitter Britt Herbots will be Belgium’s women’s national team’s big name in their return to the Volleyball Nations League as the high-scoring international star is the most popular name among the 32 players selected to represent the country in the upcoming international season.

Besides the VNL, the Belgians, who are currently the 14^th-best team in the FIVB World Rankings, will play in the FIVB Women’s World Championship and the 2026 European Championship Qualifiers over the next few months, facing a busy and important summer.

A key piece in the Belgian national team since she first joined it, back in 2016, the 25-year-old Herbots is one of the most dynamic scorers in international volleyball. She was the top scorer of the VNL in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Despite her still young age, the outside hitter will be somewhat of a veteran presence in the roster as one of the 11 returning players from the Belgian impressive campaign at the 2022 World Championship, when they finished ninth – the others are setters Charlotte Krenicky and Elise Van Sas, opposite Pauline Martin, outside hitters Manon Stragier and Nel Demeyer, middle blockers Anna Koulberg, Marlies Janssens, Nathalie Lemmens and Silke Van Avermaet and libero Britt Rampelberg.

Set to start his second season in charge of the team, head coach Kris Vansnick plans to create a core group of 18 players by mid-May to compete in the major tournaments of 2025.

Return to the VNL in China

Absent from the VNL since 2022, the Belgians will play their first matches in the tournament after three years in Beijing, China, from June 4-8. They will start the week against the home team and will then meet Thailand, France and Poland.

In the World Championship, which will be held in Thailand, from August 22-September 7, the Yellow Tigers are part of Pool B and will have Italy, Cuba and Slovakia as their first opponents.
