Serbia (SRB) vs. Bulgaria (BUL) women - Pool 5 - Preliminary Phase #5584915

The 28-year-old Bošković will be one of the most experienced players in the Serbian team in 2025

Back at the helm of the Serbian women’s national team after four years, head coach Zoran Terzić announced the country’s 25-player squad for the start of the 2025 season, with the inclusion of star opposite Tijana Bošković.

The Serbians appear in tenth place in the FIVB World Rankings and will, this year, try to win the FIVB World Championship for a third-straight time, while also fighting for gold in the Volleyball Nations League.

The country’s national team will have somewhat of a new look at the start of their work with Terzić, who first coached the Serbians from 2002 to 2021, as only six of the 13 players that competed at last year’s Paris Olympics will be back in 2025 – setters Maja Ognjenović and Bojana Drča, outside hitters Bianka Buša and Sara Lozo, middle blockers Jovana Stevanović and Mina Popović and libero Silvija Popović are the absences.

On the other hand, Terzić included star opposite Bošković in his selection, indicating she could be more used in the VNL than in past years – the two-time world champion only made the country’s 30—player list in one of the last four seasons, playing four matches in 2023. She’s one of six Paris Olympics selected, alongside outside hitters Aleksandra Uzelac, Bojana Milenković and Katarina Dangubić and middle blockers Hena Kurtagić and Maja Aleksić.

Five other players – setters Marija Miljević and Mila Đorđević, opposite Tara Taubner, middle blocker Ana Malešević and libero Stefana Pakić – were included in the country’s 30-player list for the VNL, but have not been called up for training yet.

The Serbian preparations will begin on April 28, but Terzić, who has yet to complete his club season with Dinamo-Ak Bars in Russia, and Bošković will join the group later.

VNL campaign begins in Ottawa

Serbia will begin their VNL campaign in Ottawa, Canada, where they will face the Dominican Republic, Japan, Bulgaria and the home team from June 4-8.

Later in the year, from August 22-September 7, the Europeans will try to defend their victories in the last two editions of the World Championship in Thailand. Their campaign in event will begin in Pool H, where they will play against Japan, Ukraine and Cameroon.
