Campinas' ninth-straight Superliga victory made the team get to 29 points, tying defending champions and fellow Club World Championship participants Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei, but they got to rank first because of their higher number of wins (ten to nine). With that, Campinas are also guaranteed to end the first round of the regular season at the top of the standings, even if they already completed their 11 matches and some of their opponents still have up to two games in hand.
Against JF Vôlei, Campinas couldn't count on Argentine opposite Bruno Lima and also opted to preserve Olympic champion outside hitter Maurício Borges. With that, Brazilian national team outside hitter Adriano Xavier stepped up and led the team with 18 points (16 kills, two aces). Lima's substitute, opposite Newton 'Acerola' Fernandes added 16 (12 kills, two blocks, two aces) and received the match's MVP award.
"I don't get many opportunities to play, so I try to make the most of them," Acerola reacted. "It was a tough match, nothing is easy. But everyone did their best, our serving and counter-attacking were strong, and this result gives us a lot of confidence for the Club World Championship."
