Vôlei Renata Campinas and Sada Cruzeiro's exciting fight for the top spot in the 2025-2026 Brazilian Men's Superliga standings is set to resume this week, as the tournament returns to action following a two-week break for the end-of-year celebrations.

Tied with 29 points, the two teams, which both represented Brazil at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship in December, will get on the court on Friday, at the start of the first leg of the second round of the regular season.

Campinas, which made it to the top of the standings right before its participation at the Club World Championship, edging Cruzeiro in the number of victories tie-breaker, will be on the road in their return to action in the Superliga, making the trip to face ninth-placed Azulim Sicoob Aracoop Monte Carmelo at 20:00 local time (23:00 UTC).

"The break was very important for us to rest and relax a little bit, and now we can focus on our goals for the second half of the season," outside hitter Adriano Xavier remarked.

The team of Olympic champions Bruno Rezende and Maurício Borges and Olympic medalist Bruno Lima enters Friday's encounter in a nine-match winning streak in the Superliga and have defeated Monte Carmelo on the three occasions the teams met in the tournament - they got a sweep at home in the first round of the regular season.

Defending champions Cruzeiro will play earlier, at 18:30 (21:30 UTC), also as visitors, as they go on the road to face in-state rivals JF Vôlei, who currently sit at the bottom of the standings in 12th place.

Led by Olympic champions Lucas Saatkamp and Douglas Souza, Cruzeiro, who still have team captain Wallace de Souza out due to a knee injury, triumphed in their last five Superliga matches and have claimed all three points against JF Vôlei on the three occasions the teams met in the tournament, including the first round of the current regular season, when they won 3-1 at home.

Another two matches will take place on Friday, with tenth-placed Joinville Vôlei meeting eighth-placed SESI Bauru at 18:30 (21:30 UTC) and fourth-placed Itambé Minas hosting seventh-placed Vôlei Guarulhos Bateubet at 21:00 (00:00 UTC, Saturday).
