Rana Verona emerged on top of the current standings in the Italian men’s volleyball SuperLega Credem Banca as the only team with a full nine-point record after the end of the third leg. On Thursday evening at home, they shut out Allianz Milan.

In front of over 3,200 spectators at the Agsm AIM hall in Verona, the home team hammered out a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-20) sweep of their third-leg game against Allianz. Malian outside hitter Noumory Keita led the way with a match-high 14 points, including one kill block. He registered a 59% success rate in attack. His Slovenian cross-court teammate Rok Mozic contributed another 12 points, including one ace, towards the victory. He spiked at a 55% success rate. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award was presented to middle blocker Lorenzo Cortesia, who delivered two aces, one kill block and six attacking points at a 75% success rate. Outside hitter Francesco Recine and Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers were Allianz’s most prolific scorers with 10 points apiece.
With this win, Verona collected 9 points and a 3-0 win-loss record that place them on top of the table, a point above the only other undefeated team, Sir Susa Scai Perugia. The team from Milan occupy ninth place on 2 and 1-2.
The fourth leg is coming up this weekend with one game on Saturday, November 1, and another five on Sunday, November 2.
