The Italian men’s volleyball SuperLega Credem Banca competition week will get underway on Thursday with an advanced fixture of the 11^th leg between reigning European champions Sir Susa Scai Perugia and SuperLega rookies MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo. Sir, who are set to represent Europe in next month’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship in Brazil, will have one more game to play this week. Their home match against Rana Verona on Sunday highlights the program of this weekend’s fifth leg.

Table leaders Sir Susa Scai Perugia, who remained the only undefeated team in the league this season, will host first division newcomers MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo at the Barton Energy hall on Thursday, November 13, at 20:30 local time (19:30 UTC). Sir hold first place in the current standings on 13 points and a 5-0 win-loss record, while the rookies from Cuneo are in ninth place on 5 and 1-4.

The big SuperLega match of the week is coming up at the same venue three days later. On Sunday, at 16:00 (15:00), Sir Susa Scai Perugia will welcome the other team that had stayed unbeaten until just four days ago, Rana Verona. After conceding their first defeat of the season, previous table leaders Verona dropped to third place on 12 and 4-1. The all-time head-to-head record between the two clubs stands heavily in favor of the Block Devils at 35-8 in wins. Last season they beat Verona twice, by 3-0 at home and 3-2 on the road. Their most recent meeting, however, was in an Italy Cup semifinal in late January, when Rana Verona came back from two sets down to produce a sensational 3-2 upset.

The game between Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza and Cucine Lube Civitanova is another big one to watch this weekend. The Coppa Italia laureates will visit the BancaSport hall in Piacenza on Sunday at 18:00 (17:00). After removing Verona from the top of the table last weekend, Lube climbed to second place on 13 and 4-1. Gas Sales are running sixth on 6 and 2-3. Lube swept both encounters with that opponent in straight sets last season and lead the all-time head-to-head by 13-2 in wins.

In this week’s closing match, on Sunday at 19:00 (18:00), Valsa Group Modena, standing fourth on 10 and 3-2, will visit Cisterna Volley, third from the bottom, in 10^th place on 4 and 2-3.

Defending champions Itas Trentino Trento, who are currently in fifth place on 9 and 3-2, will certainly try to improve their standing as they entertain Vero Volley Monza at the BTS Arena on Sunday at 17:00 (16:00). The squad from Monza is in 11^th place on 4 and 1-4.

The weekend’s action will open on Saturday at 18:00 (17:00) with a clash between the teams occupying eighth and seventh place in the table. Table neighbors Sonepar Padova Padua, on 5 and 2-3, and Allianz Milan, on 5 and 2-2, will meet at the Kioene Arena in Padua.

Last season’s rookies Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina will try to score their first win in this edition of the league as they host this season’s rookies MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo at the Savelli hall on Sunday at 18:00 (17:00). Grottazzolina trail bottom, in 12^th place on 1 and 0-4.
