Sir Susa Scai Perugia will host Cucine Lube Civitanova at the Barton Energy hall on Sunday, October 26, at 20:30 local time (19:30 UTC), in a duel between last season’s bronze and silver medalists. After the first leg of the new season, when both of these teams achieved four-set victories, they lined up in the exact same places in the current standings, third and second, respectively. The all-time head-to-head series between the two clubs is tied at 36 wins each, after the team from Civitanova turned their best-of-five semifinal playoff in April around from two wins behind.

“We've been away from our fans for a long time! We need to approach Civitanova like we do with the rest of the regular season games. It's certainly a high-level match technically, but it's also a challenging one because this is a team that plays good volleyball with a fast, varied game, and with a good reception, so we must try to find a useful strategy.” Angelo Lorenzetti, head coach of Sir Susa Scai Perugia
“We must not dwell on last year's feat, but focus on what it takes to play on the most difficult court in the league. Right now, it's important for us to find our game again and improve the way we operate on the court, so it's a good test against a very good team. We'll have to fight…” Mattia Boninfante, setter of Cucine Lube Civitanova

In another high-level encounter, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza will welcome Allianz Milan to the BancaSport hall on Sunday at 18:00 (17:00). Last season, they finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the final standings. Gas Sales will be looking for the first win of the season, after losing at Rana Verona in four sets earlier this week. In fact, they are on a negative streak of six consecutive losses that started in April with the semifinal playoffs. Allianz will try to build upon the five-set home win over Valsa Group Modena and further extend their six-game winning streak that also started in April, in the fifth-place playoffs.

The second leg will open on Saturday at 18:00 (16:00) with Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina entertaining Rana Verona at the Savelli hall. Grottazzolina started the season with a four-set loss at Lube, while Verona took four sets to beat Gas Sales at home.

Sunday’s competition day will serve off at 16:00 (15:00) with defending champions Itas Trentino Trento hosting Sonepar Padova Padua. As the only team that achieved a straight-set win in the first leg (on the road against Cisterna Volley), Trentino immediately occupied the top of the table. Padova, on the other hand, took five sets against SuperLega rookies MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo, but also celebrated victory.

After a good start that brought them a historic first point in the league, MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo will now try to achieve their first win as they welcome Cisterna Volley for their home debut on Sunday at 18:00 (17:00).

Valsa Group Modena and Vero Volley Monza will lock horns for their first win of the season as they meet at the Panini hall on Sunday at 19:00 (18:00). In the first leg, Modena pushed Allianz to five sets in Milan, while Vero Volley lost at home to Sir in four.
