Sir Susa Scai Perugia returned to the 2025-2026 SuperLega Credem Banca just five days after triumphing at the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball Club World Championship and kept their good form, winning their last match in the 2026 calendar year.

The Red Devils hit the road again just three days after returning from Brazil and displayed a strong level of play to dominate Cisterna Volley to a 3-0 (25-24, 25-20, 25-20) victory in the second leg of the second round of the regular season on Friday.

Despite the victory, Perugia were not able to recover the position they lost during their trip to Belém and return to the top of the standings. They kept on pace with Itas Trentino, who defeated Vero Volley Monza 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-22) on Friday, as both teams have 32 points, with 11 wins and two losses, but the team from Trento has a better set ratio. Cisterna are 11th with six points (three wins, ten losses).

Part of the Club World Championship Dream Team, Tunisian opposite Wassim Ben Tara continued in great form and led Perugia's victory with 16 points, all produced in kills, taking home the MVP award. Japanese star outside hitter Yuki Ishikawa and middle blocker Roberto Russo contributed 11 points each.

Opposite Tommaso Barotto was Cisterna's most productive player with 11 points (ten kills, one block), two more than veteran outside hitter Filippo Lanza.

Third-placed Rana Verona also triumphed on Friday, topping Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-16), and got to 31 points (11 wins, two losses). Brazilian opposite Darlan de Souza topped all scorers with 15 points (ten kills, three blocks, two aces).

Buchegger fires nine aces in Verona's victory

Ranked fourth, Valsa Group Modena got to 28 points (nine wins, four losses) thanks to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-15) victory over MA Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo. Austrian opposite Paul Buchegger was the most productive player on the court, registering 19 points, with an incredible nine aces, nine kills and one block.

The most anticipated match of the day had Cucine Lube Civitanova defeating Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza 3-1 (25-21, 28-26, 18-25, 25-21) to get to 25 points (eight wins, five losses) and take their spot in the standings, moving up to fifth-place. Bulgarian star outside hitter Aleksandar Nikolov led Civitanova with 21 points (17 kills, three aces, one block), while Piacenza's opposite Alessandro Bovolenta topped all scorers with 26 (24 kills, two blocks).

Piacenza ended up dropping two spots, going down to seventh and being passed by Allianz Milano, which triumphed 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 26-28, 28-26) over Sonepar Padova and got to 23 points (eight wins, five losses). Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers was in top form and produced 28 points (24 kills, three blocks, one ace) for the winning side.

After a quick break for the New Year celebrations, the SuperLega resumes on Saturday, January 3, with the first two matches of the third leg of the second round of the regular season - the remaining four matches will be held on Sunday.
