Valsa Group Modena will welcome Cucine Lube Civitanova to the Panini hall on Saturday at 18:00 local time (17:00 UTC). Each of the two teams stands on a 5-4 win-loss record, but Lube are fifth in the current standings on 17 points, while Modena are seventh on 16. So far this season, Lube have steadily followed the pattern of winning at home, even against some of the strongest teams in the league, and losing on the road, even to teams that are far below them in the table. Modena and Lube met twice last season and traded three-point home victories. In history, the two clubs have played as many as 111 matches against one another, with Lube leading the head-to-head record by 65-46 in wins.

“In the match against Trento, we showed at times that we can compete, and we need to build on that. Civitanova is another very strong team. We know their strengths well, but we need to focus on our game and show up with a bang.” Filippo Federici, libero of Valsa Group Modena
“For me, returning to Modena and seeing so many friends is always wonderful, but the idea of playing for three important points against a strong team is even more exciting. We're now fifth, but we can reclaim fourth place to play the first round of the Italy Cup at home. Valsa Group has grown significantly since the summer. We'll have to withstand the odds, be able to fight in critical moments, because at the Panini you can't win without gritting your teeth, and take every chance.” Mattia Boninfante, setter of Cucine Lube Civitanova

Table leaders Sir Susa Scai Perugia, set to appear at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship later this month, will travel to Allianz Milan for their fixture on Sunday at 18:00 (17:00) at the Allianz Cloud. Having already played two extra games, the reigning European champions top the current standings on 26 points and a 9-2 win-loss record. Allianz, who won the last match of the midweek ninth leg on Thursday, 3-1 (25-16, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17) at MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo with a match-high 21 points from Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers, including five kill blocks and an ace, stand in sixth place on 16 and 6-3.

Second-placed Rana Verona will also play on the road at the same time, visiting SuperLega rookies MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo. Verona are still the team with the fewest losses conceded so far this season and stand on 23 and 8-1. Cuneo are in eighth place on 9 and 2-8.

Defending champions Itas Trentino Trento, running in third place on 21 and 7-2, will take a trip to Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, trailing bottom, in 12th place on 1 and 0-9. The game at the Savelli hall will open Sunday’s competition day at 17:00 (16:00).

In another Sunday match, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza will visit Cisterna Volley at 18:00 (17:00). The squad from Piacenza stands in fourth place on 18 and 6-3, while Cisterna are second from the bottom, in 11th place on 6 and 3-6.

The leg will close on Monday with a game between Sonepar Padova Padua and Vero Volley Monza. It will serve off at 17:30 (16:30) at the Kioene Arena. The two teams are neighbors in the table. Hosts Padova are ninth on 8 and 3-6, while Vero Volley are 10th on 7 and 2-8.

With seven teams already qualified for the quarterfinals of the Italy Cup, the last vacancy is still up for grabs and has to be decided by the end of the 11th leg on December 14, but the matter could be settled even by the end of the upcoming 10th leg. As many as four teams are still in contention – Cuneo, Padova, Vero Volley and Cisterna.
