Rana Verona won the big match of the Italian men’s volleyball SuperLega Credem Banca weekend. With Malian striker Noumory Keita firing as many as 31 points, they brought home a five-set road victory over Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza on Saturday. Another four matches on Sunday completed the 12th leg of the regular season.

In a dramatic rollercoaster match, Rana Verona achieved a 3-2 (28-26, 20-25, 25-17, 28-30, 15-12) win over their hosts to improve to 28 points and a 10-2 win-loss record in third place in the current standings. Gas Sales dropped a spot to fifth place on 23 and 7-5. Malian outside hitter Noumory Keita contributed 29 points in attack at a 66% success rate, to which he added one ace and one kill block to top the match chart with a total of 31 points and earn the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. His Slovenian cross-court teammate Rok Mozic chipped in with 13 points. As many as five players reached the double digits on the home team’s side, led by Cuban outside Jose Gutierrez with 19 points.
Defending champions Itas Trentino Trento emerged on top of the table after a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-20) sweep of their away game at Sonepar Padova Padua, overtaking Sir Susa Scai Perugia to the first place in the standings just hours before the latter triumphed as 2025 club world champions in Brazil. Standing on 29 and 10-2 each, Trentino edge above Sir on set ratios. Padova are in ninth place on 11 and 4-8. Swinging at an 80% success rate, Trentino’s French opposite Theo Faure emerged as the best scorer of the match with 18 points, including two kill blocks.
Cucine Lube Civitanova achieved their first away win of the season, a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-19) shutout of SuperLega rookies MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo, with a match-high 16 points from Canadian outside Eric Loeppky, including three aces and two blocks. Lube are in sixth place on 22 and 7-5, while Cuneo are running in 10th on 9 and 2-10.
Seventh-placed Allianz Milan also mastered a straight-set victory on the road, a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-14) sweep of their game at bottom-placed Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina. Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers nailed five aces and hit 13 kills in attack at a 72% success rate towards a match-high 18 points. Middle blocker Edoardo Caneschi contributed another six aces towards Allianz’s victory. The team from Milan improved to 20 and 7-5, while Grottazzolina are stuck in 12th place on 2 and 0-12.
Valsa Group Modena surpassed Gas Sales into the fourth place on 25 and 8-4 after a 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 25-18) home win over Cisterna Volley in the weekend’s closing match on Sunday evening. Cisterna stand second from the bottom, in 11th place on 6 and 3-9. Modena’s outside Luca Porro led the way with 18 points, including four aces, while Austrian opposite Paul Buchegger authored another five of the team’s impressive total of 18 serving points.
The SuperLega continues with the six 13th-leg matches on December 26.
