The 2025-2026 Italian SuperLega Credem Banca men’s volleyball season served off with the six matches of the first leg played on Monday and Tuesday, and the tone for a truly exciting competition was already set.

Allianz Milano vs. Valsa Group Modena - VBW - SuperLega - Match Highlights
The SuperLega spectacle stormed in full swing already with the season opener, in which Allianz Milan entertained Valsa Group Modena. The home team came back from two sets down to please the fans at the Allianz Cloud with a 3-2 (23-25, 17-25, 25-22, 37-35, 15-11) victory, with a particularly thrilling fourth set that lasted 47 minutes. The visitors failed to convert three match points, while denying nine opponent set points before Serbian middle Nemanja Masulovic closed it off with a kill block on the 10th. Allianz’s Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers led the way with 28 points, including three aces and two blocks, while 19-year-old setter Leonardo Barbanti was chosen as the match’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
One more five-setter unfolded on Monday evening and marked the SuperLega debut of MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo. Upon their visit to Sonepar Padova Padua, the rookies came back from a set down twice during the match before conceding a 3-2 (26-24, 21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 15-13) defeat, with a match-high 22 points by Padova’s Serbian opposite Veljko Masulovic, including five blocks and two aces.
Bulgarian outside Aleksandar Nikolov, the best scorer of the recent FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in the Philippines, spearheaded last season’s silver medalists Cucine Lube Civitanova with a leg-high 30 points towards their 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23) home victory over Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina. Nikolov’s match record included a 66% success rate in attack, four aces and a block.
Rana Verona also achieved a four-set win in their home opener against Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. Malian opposite Noumory Keita was the best scorer of the match with a 24-point contribution to his team’s 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 29-27, 25-20) victory. His tally included three kill blocks and he registered a 57% success rate in attack.
Reigning European champions, Supercoppa Italiana laureates and SuperLega bronze medalists Sir Susa Scai Perugia started the season with an away win, a 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-19) comeback against Vero Volley Monza. Their Tunisian opposite Wassim Ben Tara topped the match charts with 19 points, all in swings at a 63% success rate.
In the leg’s only three-setter, defending champions Itas Trentino Trento hammered out a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-19) shut out of Cisterna Volley on the road. Spiking at a 100% success rate in attack and putting away two aces and a kill block, Trentino’s outside Alessandro Michieletto, the Most Valuable Player of the World Championship in the Philippines, shared the match top scorer honors with French teammate and opposite Theo Faure, who spiked at a 65% success rate and signed off with one kill block against his previous club.
The second leg will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 25 and 26.
