Wilfredo Leon in an MVP performance on Thursday

On a run of 13 wins in as many matches in the SuperLega Credem Banca, recently crowned club champions of the world Sir Safety Susa Perugia extended their winning streak in Italy this season with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-23) victory against Top Volley Cisterna in the quarterfinals of the Del Monte Coppa Italia SuperLega on Thursday.

The Coppa Italia features the top eight clubs in the SuperLega standings following the completion of the first half of the season. After the quarterfinals played this week, the Final Four will follow on February 25 and 26 at the Palazzo del Sport in Rome.

The first quarterfinal took place on Wednesday with Club World Champs silver medallists Itas Trentino claiming an away victory at Valsa Group Modena 3-1 (17-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-20).

In what was the biggest upset of the quarterfinals, MVP Yuki Ishikawa led Allianz Milano to a four set away victory at Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21) on Thursday, in a match between the club ranked seventh and the club ranked second.

Also on Thursday, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza claimed an away victory in the most closely contested encounter of the round, a 3-2 (25-19, 31-33, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8) win against WithU Verona.

The semifinals of the competition will see current league leaders Perugia take on Piacenza and Trentino play Milano on February 25. The two winners will compete for the title on the following day.
