ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle and BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will take to the court at the Azoty hall on Saturday at 14:45 local time (13:45 UTC). The visitors from Lublin are fourth in the current standings on 46 points and a 16-6 win-loss record. The hosts from Kedzierzyn-Kozle are right below them, in fifth place on 45 and 16-5 with a game in hand. This match offers Bartosz Kurek and his teammates the opportunity to delight the home crowd with a win, which would push them up to the fourth place. On the other hand, if the squad around Wilfredo Leon wins the three points, it will be able to break away from ZAKSA in the standings, unreachable even with the game in hand the opponents have.
When the two teams met in Lublin for their eighth-leg fixture in October, BOGDANKA hammered out a straight-set victory with the help of five aces from Leon. It extended their winning streak in the head-to-head encounters to four games in a row and put them 4-3 ahead in the overall historic record between the two clubs.

At the same starting hour, but on Sunday, Steam Hemarpol Norwid Czestochowa and Asseco Resovia Rzeszow will lock horns to open the competition day. The hosts from Czestochowa stand sixth in the table on 37 and 13-9. With the same number of points, but on an 11-11 win-loss record, Resovia occupy the seventh place. Norwid emerged victorious from the five-set battle the two teams put up in October in Rzeszow to take a 2-1 lead in the overall head-to-head series.
“We should have won that match by 3-1, but we lost by 2-3. Now, in Czestochowa, we will definitely have another difficult match and again a very important one, like all matches in the PlusLiga, especially at this stage of the competition. I think we look better as a team now than we did then, so we will go to Czestochowa with a good attitude and in a better health situation. So I am not afraid that we will not be able to show our very good game. We definitely have to be ready for a great fight and great emotions, as well as a great atmosphere, which will be created by the fans in the hall.” Gregor Ropret, setter of Asseco Resovia Rzeszow

The 23rd leg will serve off on Friday at 20:30 (19:30) with PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow hosting PSG Stal Nysa. SKRA are right on the edge of the playoff zone, in eighth place on 34 and 11-11, a comfortable five points ahead of the next candidate for a spot among the top eight. Stal are right on the edge of the no-relegation zone, in 13th place on 19 and 5-17, a not-so-comfortable three points ahead of the top team within the relegation zone. When the two teams met in November in Nysa, SKRA managed to squeeze out a 3-2 victory.
On Saturday, after the ZAKSA v BOGDANKA match, the day’s programme will continue at 17:30 (16:30) with a game between GKS Katowice and PGE Projekt Warsaw. As the regular season progresses, the hosts from Katowice look more and more doomed at the bottom of the table, in 16th place on 9 and 3-19, but there is still plenty of matches to fight for survival. Projekt, on the other hand, are close to the top of the standings, in third place on 49 and 18-4.
At 20:30 (19:30), Indykpol AZS Olsztyn and Barkom Kazhany Lviv will close the competition day. Currently standing 11th on 28 and 8-13 with a game in hand, Indykpol are hoping to make their way up to the playoffs, while Barkom hope to get out of the red zone, where they occupy 14th place on 16 and 6-16.
Trefl Gdansk will entertain Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj on Sunday at 17:30 (16:30). Trefl are in 10th place on 28 and 9-13, while the defending champions top the current standings on 57 and 18-4.
In Sunday’s late game, Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski will host Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie at 20:30 (19:30). Cuprum Stilon are in 12th place on 27 and 11-11. Aluron are running second on 52 and 17-5.
The last match of the leg will be played on Monday. At 17:30 (16:30), ninth-placed Slepsk Malow Suwalki (29, 11-11) will welcome Nowak-Mosty MKS Bedzin, who stand second from the bottom, in 15th place on 12 and 3-19.
