It is almost time for the men’s volleyball TAURON Puchar Polski final in Krakow! On Sunday afternoon, at 14:45 local time (13:45 UTC), thousands of volleyball fans at the TAURON Arena will cheer on as BOGDANKA LUK Lublin and Asseco Resovia Rzeszow take to the court in the showdown for the national cup crown. Those who cannot be at the venue will have the opportunity to watch the big game live and on demand on VBTV.

The reigning national champions and Poland Super Cup and CEV Challenge Cup laureates will try to add a new trophy to their trending showcase. BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will enter the final in Krakow on a 12-game winning streak between the Poland Cup, the Polish PlusLiga and Europe’s Champions League. To qualify for the Final Four, they put together a four-set away victory over the second-division team of Stal Nysa in the quarterfinals and then, on Saturday in Krakow, they persevered through an epic five-set battle to edge past Indykpol AZS Olsztyn. It was the third (consecutive) time Lublin reached the Poland Cup Final Four, but this year they progressed to their first final. BOGDANKA are also the leaders in the current PlusLiga standings on 32 points and an 11-3 win-loss record.

Asseco Resovia Rzeszow won the national cup three times back in the 70s and the 80s of the 20th century, most recently in 1987. The last time they played in the final was in 2015. In the quarterfinals, the team from Rzeszow battled it out for a hard-fought straight-set away win over FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship bronze medalists Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie. They did not lose a set in Saturday’s semifinal in Krakow either, sweeping their encounter with PlusLiga bronze medalists PGE Projekt Warsaw. Resovia occupy sixth place in the current PlusLiga standings on 26 and 9-5.

November’s meeting between Lublin in Resovia in the PlusLiga produced a five-set battle, in which the visitors from Rzeszow celebrated an upset of the defending champions. That was, in fact, BOGDANKA’s last defeat before they got on their current winning run. It was the 10th encounter between the two clubs in official competitions and the all-time head-to-head record now stands at 7-3 Resovia’s way. In their only previous Puchar Polski meeting, in February 2024, Lublin delivered a four-set quarterfinal knockout of their opponents.
