On Wednesday evening, Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Czestochowa produced a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18) home victory over ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle. It was only their second win since the start of the season, but it propelled them three spots up the table, from the very bottom to 11th place on 8 points and a 2-10 win-loss record, separated from 12th-placed Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski and 13th-placed Slepsk Malow Suwalki on set ratios. ZAKSA, on the other hand, remained just below the playoff zone, in ninth place on 16 and 5-7. Czech opposite Patrik Indra contributed a fantastic 30 points towards Steam’s victory and emerged as the best scorer and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match. He registered a 57% success rate in attack and put away three aces and a kill block. Iranian outside hitter Milad Ebadipour added another 17 points. His cross-court teammate Bartlomiej Lipinski finished with 13, while middle blocker Daniel Popiela also reached the double digits with 10. Their playmaker Marcin Janusz claimed the MVP honors, while opposite Karol Butryn emerged as the best scorer with 18 points under his belt. Both SKRA and Resovia overtook PGE Projekt Warsaw, who are on 25 and 9-2, but have a game in hand and are still the team with the fewest losses in the league. The Ukrainian team stayed put in 10th place, now on 10 and 3-9.
In the highest-profile midweek match, JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj delivered a 3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23) home win over Energa Trefl Gdansk on Tuesday and surpassed them in the standings.
