The seven matches of the ninth leg in the men’s volleyball PlusLiga in Poland are coming up. They will be played from Friday, November 28, to Monday, December 1, and probably the most exciting clash on the schedule is Saturday’s duel between Asseco Resovia Rzeszow and PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow, while the game between Indykpol AZS Olsztyn and ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle highlights Sunday’s program.

Until last Monday, Asseco Resovia Rzeszow and PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow were the only two teams in the PlusLiga with just one loss on their season’s record. Resovia, however, conceded their second consecutive defeat, after starting the new championship with five wins in a row, and are now in sixth place in the current standings on 14 points and a 5-2 win-loss record. SKRA, on the other hand, are still the team with the fewest losses this season. They suffered a setback in their opening match, but have been on a six-game winning streak since, occupying third place on 18 and 6-1. The match between Resovia and SKRA at the Podpromie hall in Rzeszow will serve off at 14:45 local time (13:45 UTC) on Saturday.

The club from Rzeszow has been on a six-game winning streak in the head-to-head series against their opponents from Belchatow. They even won the last five encounters in straight sets, so the last time SKRA won a set against Resovia was back in October 2022, and the last time they won a game was in February of that same year. The all-time head-to-head record between the two clubs in the PlusLiga, however, stands at 45-24 SKRA’s way.

In another interesting fixture this weekend, Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will welcome ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle to the Urania hall on Sunday at 20:00 (19:00). Indykpol are running in second place on 20 and 6-3, while mighty ZAKSA stand below the playoff zone, in ninth place on 10 and 3-4. The club from Olsztyn has not celebrated a win over their opponents from Kedzierzyn-Kozle since 2022, with ZAKSA riding a four-game winning streak in the head-to-head series.

In another high-profile match on Sunday, Energa Trefl Gdansk will entertain table leaders Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie at the Ergo Arena at 17:30 (16:30). Trefl are seventh on 10 and 4-3, while Warta top the table on 23 and 8-2.

The ninth leg will open on Friday at 20:00 (19:00) with PlusLiga rookies InPost ChKS Chelm hosting Ukraine’s Barkom Kazhany Lviv at the MOSiR. Chelm are in 11th place on 5 and 2-5, while Barkom Kazhany are just above them, in 10th place on 7 and 2-5.

At the same starting time on Saturday, Slepsk Malow Suwalki will entertain BOGDANKA LUK Lublin. The home team is in the scuffle for avoiding relegation. It is currently second from the bottom, in 13th place on 4 and 1-6. The defending champions are in the running for the top places again. They stand fifth on 16 and 5-3.

Sunday’s program will open with another team near the bottom of the table, Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski, hosting another 2024-2025 medalist, PGE Projekt Warsaw. The game at Arena Gorzow starts at 14:45 (13:45). Cuprum Stilon will try to ride the momentum of their first win this season, which lifted them two spots up the standings, to 12th place on 5 and 1-7. Projekt are running fourth on 16 and 6-2.

The leg’s closing match, between JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj and Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Czestochowa, will be played on Monday at 17:30 (16:30). Hosts Jastrzebski Wegiel stand in eighth place on 10 and 4-4, while Steam are trailing in 14th on 4 and 1-7.
