The Polish men’s volleyball PlusLiga program offers four midweek matches on Tuesday and Wednesday, highlighted by a clash between table leaders and participants in next month’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and defending champions BOGDANKA LUK Lublin in a remake of last season’s final playoff.

In an advanced fixture of December’s 13th leg, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie will host BOGDANKA LUK Lublin on Wednesday, November 12, at 20:30 local time (19:30 UTC). Having already played one more game than the other PlusLiga teams, Aluron lead the current standings on 12 points and a 4-1 win-loss record. After losing its season opener to PGE Projekt Warsaw, the squad from Zawercie has been on a four-match winning streak. Lublin, on the other hand, had been on a four-match winning streak this season that peaked with a victory in the Poland Super Cup final, but suffered their first setback of the new championship over the weekend against PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow. They are currently in sixth place on 8 and 3-1.

Aluron and BOGDANKA clashed in last season’s best-of-five championship playoff and the team from Lublin claimed their historic national crown after taking the series by 3-1 in wins. The all-time head-to-head record between the two clubs, however, stands at 8-4 Aluron’s way.

The other three midweek fixtures will give the fifth leg an early start. On Tuesday, November 11, at 17:30 (16:30), the only foreign team in the PlusLiga, Ukraine’s Barkom Kazhany Lviv, will welcome PGE Projekt Warsaw to Elblag for the first match of the leg. Barkom stand in 10th place on 3 and 1-2, with a game in hand, while Projekt are third on 9 and 3-1.

Later on Tuesday, Energa Trefl Gdansk will entertain Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski. The match at the Ergo Arena is set to serve off at 20:30 (19:30). Trefl are running seventh on 6 and 2-2, while winless Cuprum Stilon trail bottom, in 14th place on 1 and 0-4.

Wednesday’s competition program will get underway at 17:30 (16:30) with a game between Slepsk Malow Suwalki and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn. The hosts from Suwalki are also looking for their first win of the season and currently stand second from the bottom, in 13th place on 1 and 0-4. The visitors from Olsztyn occupy fifth place on 9 and 3-1.
