Action will get underway on Thursday at 20:15 local time (19:15 UTC) with a game between Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski and Energa Trefl Gdansk at the Arena Gorzow. The home team is aiming to get as far away from the relegation zone in the table as possible. It is now fourth from the bottom, occupying 11th place in the current standings on 14 points and a 4-12 win-loss record. The visitors from Gdansk are well within the playoff zone, but only five points above the cut-off line, standing sixth on 27 and 10-6. When the two teams met in Gdansk during the first half of the regular season, in November, they engaged in a five-set battle, with Trefl winning the tie-breaker.
The program will continue with three games on Saturday. The competition day will get underway at 14:45 (13:45) with Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie hosting PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow. The FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship bronze medalists are running in fifth place on 30 and 10-5, with a game in hand, while SKRA, who are on a negative streak of four losses in a row, including their Poland Cup quarterfinal, are seventh on 27 and 9-6, also with a game in hand. In December, SKRA beat Aluron at home in Belchatow in four sets.
ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle will welcome Asseco Resovia Rzeszow to the Azoty hall at 17:30 (16:30). ZAKSA are looking to narrow the distance to the playoff zone in the table. They are currently right below it, in ninth place on 22 and 7-9. Even if they take the full three points from the match with Resovia, they will remain below the cut-off, but could get as close to it as possible and position themselves for attacking the playoff spots in the next matches. The team from Rzeszow, on the other hand, is up in third place on 32 and 11-5. November’s game between the two teams played in Rzeszow unfolded in five sets with the visitors from Kedzierzyn-Kozle celebrating the victory.
On Saturday evening, at 20:00 (19:00), PGE Projekt Warsaw will entertain Barkom Kazhany Lviv at the Torwar. Last season’s bronze medalists are second in the standings on 34 and 12-4. They will try to extend their Ukrainian visitors’ losing streak, which has already reached eight consecutive games and pushed the team down to second from the bottom, in 13th place on 11 and 3-13, dangerously close to the relegation zone. One of their three wins so far, however, was namely against Projekt, in straight sets, when they hosted them back in November.
Sunday’s only fixture will set the 2024-2025 champions and the 2024-2025 regular season winners against one another. BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will welcome JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj to the Globus at 14:45 (13:45). They stand at the opposite ends of the playoff zone in the table. Lublin are in first place on 35 and 12-4, while Jastrzebski Wegiel are in eighth on 25 and 9-7. November’s PlusLiga match between the two sides in Jastrzebie-Zdroj was resolved in four sets the way of BOGDANKA. So was the Poland Super Cup final between them a few days before that.
Two teams fighting for survival in the league, Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Czestochowa and InPost ChKS Chelm, will battle it out on Monday at 17:30 (16:30). The hosts from Czestochowa currently occupy the relegation zone, trailing in 14th place on 11 and 3-12, with a game in hand, while the PlusLiga rookies from Chelm are running just two positions above them, in 12th place on 13 and 4-12, which means that a three-point victory for the home team would prompt a change of residents in the relegation zone. Their previous encounter in November produced a four-set home victory for Chelm.
The 18th leg will close on Tuesday evening. At 20:00 (19:00), Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will entertain Slepsk Malow Suwalki at the Urania hall. Both teams have been trending with good results in recent matches, but with different goals in mind. Indykpol have an eye on the top spots in the table, currently running fourth on 31 and 11-4, with a game in hand, while Slepsk Malow are trying to get as far as possible from the danger of relegation and as close as possible to the race for the playoff spots, now standing in 10th place on 18 and 5-11. November’s match in Suwalki went 3-0 the way of the visitors from Olsztyn.
