The 2026 calendar year i the men’s volleyball PlusLiga is about to serve off on Friday, January 2, with the first of six 15th-leg games to be played through Monday, January 5. With the formally numbered 14th leg scheduled to take place in March, the second half of the regular season will, in fact, start with the 15th, which is highlighted by Saturday’s big clash between last season’s bronze and silver medalists PGE Projekt Warsaw and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, now placed second and third in the current standings, respectively.

PGE Projekt Warsaw will host Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie at the Torwar on Saturday at 14:45 local time (15:45 UTC). The squad from the capital finished the first half of the regular season in second place on 28 points and a 10-3 win-loss record. Aluron are third on 27 and 9-3. Earlier this week, on Monday and Tuesday, they played their Poland Cup quarterfinal matches. Projekt shut out PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow to advance to the semifinals. Aluron, on the other hand, were shut out at home by Asseco Resovia Rzeszow in their first game after returning from the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship as bronze medalists. When the two teams met in Zawercie during the first half of the regular season, the win went to the visitors from Warsaw in straight sets.

In the 2026 opener, Energa Trefl Gdansk will welcome Asseco Resovia Rzeszow to the Ergo Arena on Friday at 17:30 (16:30). Both teams are currently within the playoff zone. Trefl are in eighth place on 21 and 8-5. Resovia, who will try to use the momentum of their advancement to the Puchar Polski semifinals, stand sixth on 26 and 9-4. In October’s previous meeting between Trefl and Resovia, the hosts from Rzeszow squeezed out a five-set victory.

Saturday’s program continues with a clash between ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle and BOGDANKA LUK Lublin. The match at the Azoty will serve off at 17:30 (16:30). The hosts have been performing under par this season and are running below the cut-off for the playoffs, in ninth place on 16 and 5-8. The defending champions from Lublin, on the other hand, stand two points clear on top of the table, on 30 and 10-3. BOGDANKA also qualified for the national cup semifinals after a four-set away win over the second-division team of Stal Nysa on Tuesday. In October, ZAKSA and BOGDANKA produced a five-set duel in Lublin, with the champions emerging with the win.

One more game will be played on Saturday. Starting at 20:00 (19:00), Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Czestochowa will entertain Barkom Kazhany Lviv in a duel relevant to the scuffle for avoiding relegation. Steam are currently in the red zone, trailing in 14th place on 8 and 2-11, but the 11th-placed Ukrainian team is just two points above them, on 10 and 3-10. These two also put up a five-set fight in the fall with Barkom Kazhany celebrating a home victory.

Slepsk Malow Suwalki will host JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj on Sunday at 17:30 (16:30). Slepsk Malow are running in 10th place on 11 and 3-10, while Jastrzebski Wegiel occupy seventh place on 24 and 9-4. The winners of the 2024-2025 regular season beat the team from Suwalki in straight sets, when they welcomed them to Jastrzebie-Zdroj in October.

The 15th leg will end on Monday. In another match-up relevant to the race for survival in the PlusLiga, Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski will entertain InPost ChKS Chelm at 17:30 (16:30). These two teams are also neighbors in the table, with a two-point gap between them. Cuprum Stilon are second from the bottom, in 13th place on 8 and 2-11, while the PlusLiga rookies are just above them, in 12th place on 10 and 3-10. The five-set battle they put together in October went the way of the hosts from Chelm.

The game between Indykpol AZS Olsztyn and PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow that was also supposed to be played on Sunday has been postponed to a later date for medical reasons.
