The first half of the men’s volleyball PlusLiga regular season is about to come to an end on Tuesday, December 23, with gigantic clash at the very top of the current standings, as second-placed defending champions BOGDANKA LUK Lublin host table leaders PGE Projekt Warsaw in the closing match. Earlier on Tuesday, InPost ChKS Chelm and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will meet in the other game left from the program of the 12th leg.

BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will welcome PGE Projekt Warsaw to the Globus at 20:00 local time (19:00 UTC) for a mighty head-to-head duel for the top of the table. The reigning Polish champions are currently in second place on 27 points and a 9-3 win-loss record, below last season’s bronze medalists, who are on 28 and 10-2. A three-point win will propel BOGDANKA to the first place at the half-season, while Projekt will keep their spot on the top, if they win at least two sets in Lublin.

Lublin are riding the wave of a seven-match winning streak between the PlusLiga and Europe’s CEV Champions League, while Projekt’s victorious run has now been extended to eight consecutive matches in the two competitions. The two clubs met twice last season and the guys from the capital won both encounters, by 3-1 at home and by 3-2 in Lublin. The all-time head-to-head record in official matches between the two clubs stands at 7-4 in favor of Projekt, who also have a golden set won against Lublin in addition.

Inspired by their stunning four-set road victory over ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle on Saturday that put an end to a negative run of five losses in a row, PlusLiga rookies InPost ChKS Chelm will try to get another win on Tuesday, this time at home, as they entertain Indykpol AZS Olsztyn at the MOSiR on Tuesday at 17:30 (16:30). Chelm pushed up and away from the very bottom of the standings, climbing two spots to 12th place on 9 and 3-9, while the squad from Olsztyn is in sixth place on 25 and 8-4. On Saturday, Indykpol beat Asseco Resovia Rzeszow at home in four sets to secure a top-six finish of the first half of the regular season and, hence, a spot in the quarterfinals of the TAURON Puchar Polski, Poland’s national cup competition.

“We told ourselves that the best way to improve our mindset and our situation would be to simply play well and win. And that's what happened. However, we need to think about the next match. We will play Indykpol AZS Olsztyn at home. Every victory and, in fact, every point gained is worth its weight in gold. I invite all the fans. Let's create a lively, pre-Christmas atmosphere and believe that we can close the year with a good result, and above all, a captivating spectacle!” Krzysztof Andrzejewski, head coach of InPost ChKS Chelm
