Next PlusLiga leg serves off on Tuesday

The 16^th leg in the men’s volleyball PlusLiga in Poland is set to serve off already on Tuesday, January 6, with the first of two midweek matches, between Indykpol AZS Olsztyn and Barkom Kazhany Lviv. The second, between Energa Trefl Gdansk and Slepsk Malow Suwalki, will be played on Friday, January 9, while the weekend is reserved for the Poland Cup Final Four tournament in Krakow.

Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will host Barkom Kazhany Lviv at the Urania on Tuesday at 15:00 local time (14:00 UTC). The home team is fourth in the current standings on 27 points and a 9-4 win-loss record with a game in hand. Their Ukrainian opponents are now dangerously close to the relegation stone, standing second from the bottom of the table, in 13^th place on 10 and 3-11, separated from 14^th-placed InPost ChKS Chelm on set ratios. In early November, the team from Olsztyn put together a four-set away victory over Barkom Kazhany.

On Friday, at 20:00 (19:00), Energa Trefl Gdansk will entertain Slepsk Malow Suwalki at the Ergo Arena. Both teams are coming in from important home wins against strong opponents in the 15^th leg and will try to use the momentum to gain more ground in the standings. Trefl are now seventh on 24 and 9-5, while Slepsk Malow moved up to 10^th place on 14 and 4-10. When the two sides met in late October in Suwalki, the visitors from Gdansk mastered a straight-set sweep.

Another four 16^th-leg matches will be played next week, on January 13, 14 and 15. The last fixture of the leg, between Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Czestochowa and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, is scheduled on February 4.
