Men’s volleyball PlusLiga action is about to resume in Poland on Wednesday with an much anticipated clash between Indykpol AZS Olsztyn and PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow, two teams in the top eight of the current standings, looking forward to booking quarterfinal playoff spots by the end of the regular season.

In a delayed fixture of the 15th leg that was held back in early January, Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will entertain PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow at the Urania hall on Wednesday, March 4, at 17:30 local time (16:30 UTC).

Despite losing their previous two matches to reigning champions BOGDANKA LUK Lublin and to current table leaders Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, Indykpol stand fifth, on 39 points and a 14-8 win-loss record, well in a position to book their spot in the playoffs very soon. In fact, a three-point home victory over SKRA would do just that as the team from Olsztyn could no longer fall below the eighth-place cut-off mathematically.

SKRA, on the other hand, are not that close to guaranteeing themselves a quarterfinal berth, but could well consolidate their place among the candidates with a win in Olsztyn, which would lift them to sixth place. They currently stand right on the edge of the playoff zone, in eighth place on 33 and 11-9, but with two games in hand, which means they have six matches to play by the end of the regular season, a great opportunity not only to advance to the quarterfinals, but to claim a high seed in the playoff bracket.

When the two teams met in October in Belchatow, they put up a five-set battle with the visitors from Olsztyn winning the tie-breaker by 18-16. The all-time head-to-head record between the two clubs in the PlusLiga, however, is heavily in favor of SKRA, 48-22.
