Serving off shortly, at 17:30 local time (16:30 UTC), ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle will take on their hosts Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski at Arena Gorzow. Among the four above-mentioned candidates for quarterfinal berths, ZAKSA are the one that does not currently hold a qualifying spot. They are just below the cut-off line in the current standings, in ninth place on 36 points and an 11-13 win-loss record. Cuprum Stilon are in the “comfort zone” between 10th and 13th place, where the teams no longer have a shot at the playoffs or face a threat from relegation. The team from Gorzow Wielkopolski is in 12th place on 24 and 7-17. In December’s game between the two teams, ZAKSA beat Cuprum Stilon in four sets at home.
Later on Tuesday evening, at 20:00 (19:00), Energa Trefl Gdansk will entertain defending champions BOGDANKA LUK Lublin at the Ergo Arena. Trefl are on the edge of the playoff zone, just above ZAKSA in eighth place, also on 36 points, but on a 13-11 win-loss record. Aiming to climb to the highest possible position in the playoff bracket, BOGDANKA occupy third place on 47 and 16-8. They also beat their opponents in four sets at home, when they met in December.
PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow will travel to Elblag on Wednesday to take on another team from the “comfort zone” – Ukraine’s Barkom Kazhany Lviv. The match is set to start at 17:30 (16:30). SKRA occupy seventh place on 38 and 13-11, while Barkom Kazhany are 11th on 24 and 8-16. December’s game between the two sides in Belchatow went 3-1 the way of the home team as well.
Last year’s regular season winners JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj will take a trip to Asseco Resovia Rzeszow on Thursday. The game at the Podpromie hall will serve off at 20:00 (19:00). Jastrzebski Wegiel are the highest placed team in the table that has not secured a playoff spot yet. They are in sixth place, one point and one win above SKRA, on 39 and 14-10. Resovia, on the other hand, are the lowest placed team that has already booked a ticket to the quarterfinals. They are also looking to gain ground in the playoff grid, to a higher position than their current fifth place, which they hold on 45 and 16-8.
