The second leg of the 2025-2026 season in the men’s PlusLiga in Poland is about to get underway on Saturday and the first two fixtures are already offering some big match-ups. First, last season’s silver medalists Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie will host bronze medalists PGE Projekt Warsaw in the weekend opener. Then, defending champions BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will welcome the prominent ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle, who finished “only” fifth last season. The weekend offers one more game on Saturday and another three on Sunday.

Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie will entertain PGE Projekt Warsaw at the HWS on Saturday at 14:45 local (12:45 UTC). It will be the PlusLiga season opener for Aluron, as their first-leg fixture was scheduled for next week. The new additions to the squad are highlighted by Polish national team libero Jakub Popiwczak, who joined the stars of the team like Bartosz Kwolek or USA’s Aaron Russell and Kyle Ensing. Projekt already scored their first win of the season, a straight-setter at home against newcomers InPost ChKS Chelm. Last season, Aluron and Projekt met a total of six times (including once in a national cup semifinal), with the former winning four of these encounters. All three of their most recent matches in their PlusLiga semifinal playoff series were resolved in tie-breakers.

Right after the weekend opener, 17:30 (15:30) on Saturday, reigning champions BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will entertain ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle at the Globus. Lublin immediately topped the current standings after an emphatic straight-set win in their season opener at Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Czestochowa earlier this week, while mighty ZAKSA will get their season started with this match in Lublin. Some of ZAKSA’s top-level players from last season have parted ways with the club, but the team has been joined by Italian international opposite Kamil Rychlicki and American setter Quinn Isaacson for the new season. The two clubs met five times last season, with three straight-set wins for BOGDANKA and two hard-fought victories for ZAKSA.
In Saturday’s closing match at 20:30 (18:30), PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow will host Indykpol AZS Olsztyn at the Energia hall. SKRA is another team that has not started its season yet. Last season they finished in seventh place, but they are starting the new one with a new look, with additions headlined by Brazilian opposite Alan Souza. In the first leg earlier this week, Indykpol lost their opening match at home to JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj in five sets.
JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj will try to follow up that away win in Olsztyn with success in their first home match of the season, on Sunday at 14:45 (13:45) against Slepsk Malow Suwalki. Slepsk Malow, on the other hand, will be looking for their first victory, after losing at home to Asseco Resovia Rzeszow in four sets.
Next on Sunday’s program is a game between Asseco Resovia Rzeszow and Energa Trefl Gdansk at 17:30 (16:30) at the Podpromie. They both started their season successfully – Resovia with a four-set win at Slepsk Malow Suwalki, Trefl with a five-set home victory over Ukraine’s Barkom Kazhany Lviv.
Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski are the last team to get their new PlusLiga season started. They will visit rookies InPost ChKS Chelm in the weekend’s closing match at 20:30 (19:30) on Sunday at the MOSiR in Chelm. ChKS will also be looking to win their first sets, after losing by 3-0 upon their debut at PGE Projekt Warszawa this week.
