Ten volleyball athletes shine as flag bearers in Tokyo

Volleyball was well represented among the list of flag bearers in the Parade of Nations at the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Friday.

Volleyball athletes namely Maxim Mikhaylov of ROC, Zhu Ting of China, Bruno Rezende of Brazil, Prisilla Rivera of the Dominican Republic, Mercy Moim of Kenya, Kim Yeon Koung of South Korea, and Mehdi Ben Cheikh of Tunisia, and beach volleyball players Marco Grimalt of Chile and Laura Ludwig of Germany experienced carrying their national flag into the stadium.

Paola Egonu of Italy was one of several athletes to earn the prestigious honour of carrying the Olympic flag, representing athletes from all over the world.

Alongside the increase in volleyball athletes' representation in the opening ceremony, all continents were likewise widely represented at this Games’ edition of the Parade of Nations.
