One million fans follow Kim on Instagram

A key member of the Korea team at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Kim Yeon Koung has joined a growing group of volleyball players with over one million followers on the social media platform Instagram.

Kim led her team to three wins in the pool phase of the Olympic tournament and Korea will now play in the women's quarterfinals on Wednesday. Kim was also a flag bearer for her country at the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Games on July 23.

Kim joins Brazilians Douglas Souza, Bruno Rezende and Jaqueline Carvalho, Thai players Pleumjit Thinkaow and Nootsara Tomkom, Saeid Marouf and Seyed Mousavi of Iran, Alyssa Valdez of the Philippines and Kazakhstan’s Sabina Altynbekova as the most followed volleyball players on Instagram.
