In an Olympic year it is not uncommon for teams to sport new looks, to spur them on to glory. However, with the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League finishing just a month ago, it would not have been surprising to see the same kits as on that occasion.

Some teams, however, are wearing completely new outfits.

Poland switched to a very clean look sporting white tops and red shorts in the first game against Iran. The tops feature a subtle pattern. In their all-red kit, you can see that there are multiple tones of red.

Italy’s sleeveless design has rhomboidal motifs to enliven its lines. The Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) shield is outlined in gold. There are very thin Italian flag stripes up the middle and along the sides. The traditional azzuri is the primary look, while the white (2nd) and dark blue (3rd) will be alternates.

Brazil made their collar green with a canary yellow outline around the neck, in line with other Asics kits. The design resembles the Brazil football team's kit with the canary yellow tops and blue shorts. Their libero wore a white top with blue shorts in their second match, but in the opening match wore blue with a yellow collar.

The United States went with a completely new design from Adidas based loosely on the American flag of stars and stripes. The white, red and blue tops all feature the design.

Several teams, including Canada and France, swapped the flag on the front of the chest for the logo of their country's Olympic Committee.

The Canadian men’s look is using a two-tone design with an outline of a maple leaf, the national symbol of Canada, displayed on the top in a second tone. On the white jersey top with a light grey maple leaf outline, the Canadian Olympic Committee logo stands out with its red shield. With the black primary, the maple leaf is outlined in silver.

For France, Team Yavbou are wearing the French National Olympic Committee rooster, which is normally shown in blue, except for when it is on the red and blue versions of the uniform, where it is white. The dots represent the French tricolour flag.

ROC is using the Asics template and has single-colour looks in red and blue, but their white design is paired with blue shorts. The collar on the one-colour looks have the darkest tone of that colour.

Countries like Tunisia and Venezuela did not participate in the Volleyball Nations League and are making their return to the court after tournaments in 2019. They have brand new looks for the Olympic Games.

Tunisia, Africa’s qualifier, has white tops and shorts with a two-tone red bar across the chest, that is split in half by tone. It also has red tops that shift to white at the bottom of the shirt, paired with red shorts.

Venezuela's kit features two dark blue thin horizonal lines across the chest on white tops and dark blue shorts. They have a one-colour maroon look with two thin white horizontal lines as well. The dark blue kit has yellow and white horizontal lines, and yellow edges on the shorts.

Argentina, Iran, and Japan are using the same kits as at the VNL.

Argentina uses the colours of its flag, white and light blue, and has a pattern on the sleeves and the collar, which has been used at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games previously. The flag for Argentina is shown to be flapping on the chest. They also have a darker blue that was used in the match against Brazil.

Iran as the Asian qualifier, wear sleeved uniforms in a single-colour black, red or white tops and shorts. There are small dots that add two colours in addition to the collar and sleeves.

As part of the Asics design across many sports, the Japan men’s volleyball team is part of Asics' Japonism design concept. It is also used with the men’s teams of Brazil and Russia. The triangle patterns that you see on the chest are folded shapes, like origami. Japan will have red and white tops with black shorts and a one-colour black look.
