Betim, a city in its own right in greater Belo Horizonte is hosting an FIVB Men's Club World Championship for the fifth time.

Neighbouring Contagem, the base of 2019 hosts Sada Cruzeiro, Betim has a population of almost half a million and forms a critical part in the economy of the state of Minas Gerais, with several industries based there.

Indication has been found of human activity in the region before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 17th century, following the discovery of minerals. The city was named after its founder in 1745, Jose Rodrigues Betim, before it gradually developed to be declared a city in 1938.

The 6,000-capacity Ginasio Poliesportivo Divino Ferreira Braga where all matches will be played has hosted a number of international volleyball competitions, including FIVB Club World Championships in 2013, 2015 and 2016, in addition to acting as Brazil's home in several FIVB World League matches.
