Itapema, Brazil will host a 4-star FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event from November 10-14. After plans to hold the event earlier in 2021 were cancelled due to COVID-19, the postponed tournament will provide the world’s top teams with an additional opportunity to compete before the end of the year.

The event in Itapema will be the eighth 4-star stop this season after tournaments held in Doha, Cancun (three consecutive events), Sochi, Ostrava and Gstaad. It will follow the World Tour Finals scheduled to take place in Cagliari, Sardinia from October 6-10.

The double gender tournament will be the third of its kind held on the Brazilian city’s famous beaches after events in 2018 and 2019. In the first of the two, Brazilians Evandro Goncalves/Andre Loyola Stein and Agatha Bednarczuk/Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa won gold for the host country. In 2019, victory went to Tokyo Olympic champions Anders Mol/Christian Sorum of Norway and Alix Klineman/April Ross of USA.

All necessary sanitary measures will be taken to guarantee the safety of participants in line with international and national health and sports authorities.

Under-19 and Under-21 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Roi Et, Thailand will complete the 2021 beach volleyball calendar in December.
