Nishida makes victorious SuperLega debut

Expectations were high ahead of the first round of the 2021/22 SuperLega Credem Banca. And the weekend's matches didn't disappoint.

Among the new players in the league, Yuji Nishida was one many fans were looking out for. And the Japanese star opposite certainly provided some fireworks on Sunday, helping his new club Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia to a 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20) victory against Gioiella Prisma Taranto.

Playing alongside his new teammates, including Brazilians Mauricio Borges and Douglas Souza, Nishida and Vibo Valentia were clearly making a strong start to the season.

Douglas was selected as the MVP of the match and Nishida took it upon himself to make sure his new side finished the match in four sets after he spectacularly hammered three back-to-back aces to end the match.
