STORYLINES TO FOLLOW

Unfinished business for the hosts: Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie arrive as Polish champions after two near misses. They took bronze at last year's Club World Championship in Belém and finished runners-up to Perugia in the 2025-26 CEV Champions League. On home soil, they will aim to go one step further.

The team everyone wants to beat: Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia arrive as European and world champions, having swept Osaka Bluteon in last year's final for their third world title. Their defence starts against Brazil Champion Sada Cruzeiro on 15 December at 20:30 in Katowice.

Cruzeiro chase history: Sada Cruzeiro and Trentino share the record for most Club World Championship titles, with five each. A sixth in Poland would make the Brazilian club the outright record holders. A podium finish would bring Cruzeiro their tenth medal, matching Trentino's record of ten.

A Champions League score to settle: Zawiercie and Ziraat Bankkart finished second and third in Europe last season. They meet again on 16 December, and the result could shape who tops Pool A.

Renata's road to redemption: Perugia ended Vôlei Renata's 2025 run in the semi-finals. To get another shot, the South American champions must first get through the hosts on 17 December, in what could be the match that decides Pool A.

Jakarta's big stage: Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi arrive as Asian champions and Club World Championship debutants. Their pool campaign ends with the toughest test of all: the world champions, Perugia, on 17 December.

The rematch everyone wants: Perugia beat Zawiercie in the Champions League final. Drawn in different pools, they could meet again in the semi-finals or with the world title on the line on 20 December. The same goes for a potential all-Brazilian clash between Renata and Cruzeiro.
