Just a few days after she ended an important chapter of her career in the best possible way by winning gold at the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Rio de Janeiro Elite16 with Bárbara Seixas, Paris Olympian Carol Salgado made an important decision regarding her future, announcing her partner for the 2025 season.

Starting next year, the 37-year-old Brazilian blocker will have 31-year-old defender Rebecca Cavalcanti as her teammate in beach volleyball tournaments around the world.

Last Sunday, in Copacabana, Carol played with Bárbara for the last time, ending a successful four-year partnership that led her to make her first Olympic appearance in the French capital a few months ago. With Rebecca, a Tokyo Olympian, the daughter of the legendary Isabel Salgado wants to return to the greatest stage of international sports in Los Angeles 2028.

“I’m very excited about our team,” she reacted. “I love beach volleyball, am extremely happy on the court and still have a strong desire to keep training, playing and chasing victories. I believe Rebecca and I will be a strong team, which will have big goals, but also plenty of time to work and prepare to accomplish them. We’ll start working in January, when we hope we can begin building our chemistry.”

Rebecca was also looking for a partner for the upcoming Beach Pro Tour season, as her current teammate, Rio Olympic medalist Ágatha Bednarczuk, is set to end her career at the conclusion of the year.

“I’m looking forward to playing with Carol,” she added. “We won’t get together until next year, but it’s important that we made this decision now as it allows us to start our planning. We’ll have enough time to build our team's foundations and develop our chemistry, which is a key element in beach volleyball. We have big goals and a long road ahead of us, but we also have some short-term objectives we want to accomplish. The main one is, for sure, qualifying for Los Angeles 2028.”

The team will be coached by veteran Letícia Pessoa, who has been working with Carol for several years, and will be one of the many new Brazilian duos involved in the qualification race for LA 2028 – Thamella Coradello/Victoria Lopes, Andressa Cavalcanti/Tainá Bigi and Vitoria Rodrigues/Hegeile ‘Hege’ Santos are the others. Olympic champions Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos will remain together and try to defend the gold medals they won in Paris earlier this year.
