The first two teams to appear below the qualification line for the 2024-2025 Lega Volley Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà playoffs, Wash4Green Pinerolo and Il Bisonte Firenze have ten more matches to move up in the standings and take part in the postseason.

This weekend, the teams will face each other during the fourth leg of the second round of the regular season and a victory in the duel that’s set to start at 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT) on Sunday could be the first step for them to turn things around and make it to the playoffs.

Ranked ninth with 15 points (five wins, ten losses), Pinerolo are six points behind Megabox Ondulati Savio Vallefoglia, the last team inside the qualification zone. The team is going through a difficult moment in the season, having lost four of its last five matches, but still got time to reverse the course of their campaign.

The tenth-best scorer in the Italian League with 229 points, Polish opposite Malwina Smarzek has been one of the team’s standouts this season alongside star setter Carlotta Cambi and French Olympic middle blocker Amandha Sylves.

Currently in tenth place with 14 points (five wins, 11 losses), Firenze have an even more difficult task in hand as they have one fewer match to play than Pinerolo before the end of the regular season. The team enters Sunday’s encounter coming from back-to-back losses and with two victories in their last five encounters.

Ranked third in points scored in the Italian League with 306, opposite Adhuoljok Malual has been an offensive force for Firenze. Croatian middle blocker Božana Butigan, the fourth-best in blocks in the tournament, and Belarusian outside hitter Anna Davyskiba are also having solid seasons with the team.

Firenze had a clean 3-0 victory when the teams met in the first round of the regular season, back in October. The team has prevailed in four of the five matches ever held between the two sides.

Two matches on Saturday

The weekend action in the Italian League will begin on Saturday, with two matches. At 19:30 local time (18:30 GMT), fourth-placed Numia Vero Volley Milano will host 12^th-placed Honda Olivero Cuneo. One hour later, eighth-placed Vallefoglia will play at home against 14^th-placed Cda Volley Talmassons Fvg.

Sunday’s schedule will be more extensive, with four matches joining the duel between Pinerolo and Firenze. The first of them will involve fifth-placed Bergamo and league leaders Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano, at 15:30 local time (14:30 GMT). Thirty minutes later, 13^th-placed SMI Roma Volley will be at home against third-placed Igor Gorgonzola Novara.

At 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT), it will be time for the encounter between sixth-placed Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 and 11^th-placed Bartoccini-MC Restauri Perugia. Scheduled to start at 18:00 local time (17:00 GMT), the last match of the weekend will see second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci play at home against seventh-placed Eurotek Uyba Busto Arsizio.
