Welcome to Gelderland

Gelderland is one of the twelve provinces of the Netherlands and is well known as a great location for sport. It will host the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in 2022, and has welcomed other major sports events like the Giro d’Italia 2016 and the BMX World Championship 2021.

The province has fantastic venues for sport, with the Papendal National Olympic Training Centre as the absolute highlight. Province Gelderland also boasts two national parks: De Hoge Veluwe National Park and Veluwe Zoom National Park. These provide the perfect setting for cycling, walking and riding horses. You will also find a great mix of nature and culture in the main cities of Gelderland, including Arnhem, Nijmegen, Ede and Apeldoorn.

Gelderland welcomes the World

With Apeldoorn and Arnhem as host cities, many of the matches at the Women's World Championship in 2022 will take place in Gelderland. In addition, all 24 participating teams of the World Championship will stay in one of the beautiful municipalities of Gelderland. We can't wait to welcome the players and fans and show them all the beauty of Gelderland.
