Sweden’s Isabelle Haak in action

Swedish star Isabelle Haak emerged as the best scorer and the best attacker of the pool stage of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Thailand. Ukraine’s Diana Meliushkyna, Poland’s Martyna Czyrnianska, Netherlands’ Sarah van Aalen, Czechia’s Daniela Digrinova and France’s Helena Cazaute are the other individual statistical leaders after the first phase of the competition.

Haak leads the best scorers individual ranking by a wide margin. She put away a total of 95 points over the three matches played – 31 against the Netherlands, 25 against Thailand and a whopping 39 against Egypt. Her tally included five aces and five kill blocks. The next best scorers are at least 25 points behind Haak. Argentina’s Bianca Cugno scored 70 points, while Mexico’s Sofia Maldonado tallied 68 to shape up the top three. France’s Helena Cazaute, with 66 points, is in fourth place and first among those who are staying on in Thailand to compete in the upcoming eighthfinals.

With 85 spike kills to her name, Haak also leads the best attackers chart, followed by Maldonado with 64 and Cugno with 63. Here, fourth-placed Fatoumatta Sillah of Slovenia, with 59 points in offense, is the highest ranked eighthfinalist.

Ukraine’s Diana Meliushkyna, who raised as many as 11 kill blocks in the game against Japan alone, stands on top of the best blockers ranking with a total of 15 stuffs. Mexico’s Jocelyn Urias comes second with 13, while 20-year-old Slovenian Nika Milosic and Brazil’s Julia Kudiess share the third place with 12 kill blocks apiece.

Poland’s Martyna Czyrnianska has scored the highest number of serving points so far and leads the best servers chart with 10 aces. France’s Iman Ndiaye is a close second with nine aces, while the third place is taken by Milosic with six.

Sarah van Aalen of the Netherlands shines on top of the best setters ranking. She piled up 131 successful sets over the three matches played. The top three is completed by Slovenia’s Eva Pavlovic Mori with 126 and Thailand’s Pornpun Guedpard with 117.

Czech libero Daniela Digrinova shined in defense and leads the way in the best diggers chart. She accounted for 48 digs, one more than the second best defender, French libero Juliette Gelin. Yet another libero, Thailand’s Piyanut Pannoy, took third place in the table with 40 digs.

By a wide margin, France’s captain Helena Cazaute emerged on top of the best receivers ranking. She registered as many as 40 successful receptions, nine more than each of the next two players below her – her Japanese counterpart Mayu Ishikawa and Swedish libero Filippa Brink.

The players of the teams that advanced to the elimination rounds can continue to improve their tallies as the tournament proceeds. The eighthfinal round is next on the World Championship program. It will take place over the next four days, from Friday, August 29, to Monday, September 1, with two matches a day.
