The South American team took advantage of the excessive unforced errors their European opponents committed during the game to snatch a 3-1 (18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 26-24) win. In a dramatic ending of the game, Argentina came back from a 23-21 deficit with a 5-1 run to take the fourth set and the match.
Czechia gifted Argentina as many as 28 points, including the match winner in set four, against only 21 from the winning side and that made the biggest difference in the match, making up for the Europeans’ advantage in offense with 56 spike kills against 53.
22-year-old Argentinean opposite Bianca Cugno was the best scorer of the match. She put away an ace and a kill block towards a match-high 25 points. Outside hitters Bianca Bertolino and Daniela Bulaich chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
20-year-old opposite Monika Brancuska led Czechia with 17 points. Experienced outside Helena Grozer scored another 14 points, while middle blocker Magdalena Jehlarova finished with 12.
